Do we have to be a Manchester band to work with you?

Not at all, we're just based and mostly operate around Greater Manchester; if you're looking for more gigs and events, then it will help if you're able to travel to the area, but for merchandise, distribution, etc. you can be anywhere in the world.

What genres do you work with? Are there any exceptions?

We work with pretty much all genres and there aren't really any limits that we've come across yet; we're open to work with most genres from indie bands to Mongolian throat singers (we're still waiting for them to turn up though).

How can we get gigs with you and play at events?

Once you've given us your information, we keep them on our records and when a suitable event is available, we will contact you to arrange an appearence and provide details.

How do you operate your gigs and events?

We do our best to pay you outright for your performances. We don't like the whole "% of ticket sales" model that virtually all other promoters use. We'll offer you a single sum to turn up and play (which of course varies from event to event, but it's as fair as we can possibly be and reflects specifics of each event) - so you don't need to worry about selling as many tickets as possible, just to break even; just turn up and play.

It's always nice for you to help us promote any events through your social networks and fan base, but your job is to ultimately play, not to sell tickets; we're the promoters, not you.

Are you a label? Can you help us get signed?

We're not a label, no. Maybe at some point in the future, we'll look into setting up an indie label if there's enough demand - so you'll have to tell us if you're interested in that sort of thing - but at a basic level, we're just music promoters.

We don't offer a service to get you signed, because there are no guarantees that anything we (or anybody else) can get you signed and that wouldn't be fair. What we do instead, is help increase and develop your exposure, whatever your goals are.

Can you represent or manage us?

It's an option for us to do this, however as we have limited resources, we're not able to represent every artist or band. Please contact us to discuss this if you are interested.

If you're just looking for support, rather than a manager or representation, that's something that we're able to do for everybody. We have no problem offering our advice on contracts, other services available to you, etc. and developing a 'road map' for your development as artist(s).

How do you make money? What's your game, here?

Our business model is a unique one; ethical and long term. ManchesterSound is run out of passion for music, not a passion for profit. We make our costs back through our gigs and events, which allows us to focus on other stuff such as representation or music distribution without the need to charge.
